The chairs have molded and carved frames, shield shaped backs, scroll arms and bow front seats, on cabriole legs ending in scroll. Wood is possibly beechwood (the French tended to use beechwood for frames that were intended to be painted or gilded), or walnut (typically used where the wood was to be polished). These elegant chairs are in superb condition. Double caning is intact throughout. The wood frames are undamaged, and the carvings have sharp relief with no damage or evidence of wear. Depth (front to back): 22.
